The Bridge ministry of our LifeGroup (Clark) is teaching Chinese students from UTD to pronounce English. They are very eager to speak English well and constantly give us positive feedback. Our real motivation is telling them there is a God who loves them. Most of them have never heard there is a God. They are very receptive and many have begun a relationship with Jesus and have been baptized. When they go back to China, they will take the message with them. As a result, we are missionaries to China without being there. The main class is at Chase Oaks during the first service Sunday morning. This class has resulted in several smaller classes on campus with students that don’t come to church. Our LifeGroup is revitalized. When we meet together, we talk with excitement about what God is doing.

It is a blessing to be able to connect, teach, and share with the children the teachings of our Lord, and I truly love it. These children, our next generation, need to know about our God and Jesus Christ and what He means to me and to them. It is the most important message that we can give them.

I currently serve as the Small Group Relationships Coordinator for Kindergarten to 1st Grade in Kidzone. I have been teaching in Kidzone or Children’s Ministry at Chase Oaks Church for around 19 years. It was a calling from God to use the gift or talent that He gave me. It is a blessing to be able to connect, teach, and share with the children the teachings of our Lord, and I truly love it. Sometimes it is hard get up each and every weekend to prepare and go in to teach these kids. It can be difficult and sometimes you wonder if you are even getting through to these kids and their parents.

In Acts 17, Paul along with other followers went to three cities to teach others about the Gospel of Jesus. He met people that wanted to know more about this Jesus and the one true God, but others did not believe and wanted to even hurt them, but Paul and the other Christians continued to spread the Word even though it was difficult (17:13-14).

Just like Paul and the first Christians, I am reminded that we must persevere because these children, our next generation, need to know about our God and Jesus Christ and what He means to me and to them. It is the most important message that we can give just as it was for Paul in the early church.

What are you doing to spread the Word, the Gospel of Jesus? What can you do today, even though it may be hard, to tell others about Jesus Christ? We need more volunteers to serve with these kids. Is it your calling?

No doubt about it. This is the friendliest audience I face every week!

It’s a delight to share stories with my 4th and 5th graders. They’ve got open ears, minds and hearts. And they appreciate a little silliness and fun along the way.

This is a great age to teach. They are still children but are starting to see themselves as more grown up.

My job, as ‘communicator,’ is to set the stage for the place where the real relationships happen: in small groups. I get to share the “big picture” with the kids, then the small group leaders bring it home.

We are all part of a team, working with parents to give the children a solid foundation for life.

Come on and join the fun!

As alluring as all this is, we come early to serve. We work the Welcome Table in the front lobby prior to the 11AM Epoch service. We are really encouraged about the New Building, the music and setting and all that the Epoch atmosphere has to offer. Its a great option for worship at Chase Oaks, and we want it to succeed. We want visitors to feel welcome, and we anticipate lots of new faces each week. First Impressions count for a lot and a couple of well-scrubbed, seasoned, smiling faces can make a big difference.

We like serving together as a couple, too, which we think counts for something. It’s a fun and easy way to serve the Lord at Chase Oaks, which has been our home for 22 years. Try it, you will like it…serving the Lord and drinking Starbucks’ simultaneously…it’s a great way to start the week!

Now, more than ever, I love, cherish and value the time that I spend with my girls on Sunday mornings. I know that God can use me in these kids’ lives to truly make a difference, and I believe they are opening up to me more and more as we build our relationship. My name is Britton Cowles. I am a senior in high school, and I’m a small group leader for 5th grade girls on Sunday mornings. I have always had a heart for kids and having the opportunity to share God’s love with them makes my time with them all the more special.

This past summer during VBX, I led a group of girls at the end of the week in the Salvation prayer. Two of the girls accepted Christ. For one of them, that week had been the first time she had ever been in a church. The cool part about it is that God did all the work, and I had the privilege of seeing His work in action.

Now, more than ever, I love, cherish and value the time that I spend with my girls on Sunday mornings. I know that God can use me in these kids’ lives to truly make a difference, and I believe they are opening up to me more and more as we build our relationship.

We have served as Leaders for much of that time. Both Sharon and I feel that this is a simple way to serve the church community. It is very rewarding to hear the gratitude and feel the love of the people who love their morning coffee. It also gives us a chance to fellowship with the newcomers and the regular church attendees. We are certain that our Coffee Bar has made a huge difference with those who are checking out our church and also with our younger attendees. It is a great way for those who would like to be of service at our church to jump in and serve in a way that doesn’t take a lot of time or preparation!

I strive to serve because I know it makes a difference not only in my walk with God, but also makes a difference in others. I see that it gives hope to others who are looking for the love of God through His bond servants. Serving was the best step I could have ever taken to see that I am loved by God and to show the love of God through my actions. During my early years of attending church, I was a stagnant Christian. I found myself stuck in the ritual of getting up every Sunday to do my weekly good deed of attending a church service. At the same time, I was attending the Chase Oaks college group, Ignite, to feel good about myself. While attending Ignite, I found myself listening about how serving others is quite an amazing, humbling experience and that while serving we learn more about God and who we are in God’s kingdom. After a while, the words started to shine a light in my life and show some flaws in my character. Finally, I decided to depart on a voyage of service by handing out flyers at Epoch.

After that, I just fell in love with serving others and showing them love. It helped me to recognize the state of mind in which all things are Joy through Christ. I understood what the leaders in my group had been talking about. Serving has now spread into all parts of my life, and I am now able to see more and more of who God is and how I can get closer to Him. I am so very happy to realize that even the smallest things like how one person in one LifeGroup, or First Impressions, can make a difference.

I encourage friends to serve just as my leaders encouraged me, because when I hand out fliers, talk to people, or just smile people understand and see the love of Christ through me. I was once told that how we love and treat others is an excellent reflection of our relationship with Christ. I strive to serve because I know it makes a difference not only in my walk with God, but also makes a difference in others. I see that it gives hope to others who are looking for the love of God through His bond servants. Serving was the best step I could have ever taken to see that I am loved by God and to show the love of God through my actions.
